I came across this photo (and the wonderful blog it was posted on) and it reminded me of this photo.

Need a closer look? (same pic, just cropped in)
Can you imagine how small yet perfectly formed this little creature is? It's awesome. OK, it's more than that, it's a flippin' miracle. The tiny wonders of the world always get me. Pondering them never ceases to give me the perspective I need to get my head on straight.
When we were in Kauai this past summer, we hiked to a place called "Secret Beach". There was a kind of pond like area that was all mucky and as we approached we could see some sort of life moving around the edges. When we got closer we saw millions of tadpoles and baby frogs (or toads?) in the water and on the shore. I had never seen anything like it. The girls were fascinated and played there until I dragged them away. I was so worried excited little hands might injure one of these little guys.
If I had taken a picture of the froggies without my hand in the shot, you would have never been able to see exactly how small they really were. This sort of trick or tool can be used to show scale or perspective to better capture the moment in an photograph.
And talk about scale...this is where we were when we discovered the frogs.
Monster cliffs, two curious minds, and the tiny beating hearts of baby frogs. Sigh. Isn't the world an amazing place?

Just breath-taking, Tracey.

I entered a picture in the Bounce photo contest. I called the shot "pretty in pink." When I took it, I stood on the chair to get it like I wanted it!
