Ritual in the Rain

You know I was planning on doing something wonderful like what Jen did (the whole inspiration behind today's theme) but I didn't. Instead I reflected on the one Rainy Day we've had in months and what kind of day that was.

My Best Shot this week showed the boots but my interpretation of RITUAL is better told perhaps by a portrait of a little someone we found on our rainy day walk. Mind you the boots and umbrella were out at 7am and we began our stroll not much later (like we always do in the rain) but long before the neighborhood awoke; quietly conversing about our observations and sharing our thoughts and we discovered the critters and creatures that were up with us in the early morning hours.

I think what makes this RITUAL special for us (rainboots and nature walks) is that it doesn't rain very often here so when it does, it's something to celebrate, something to mark with time spent between a mother and her daughters walking in gratitude of what Mother Earth offers us.

Beautiful rain ritual...I love the critter. Mine is a ritual tied to nature and heavenly bodies...

Hmm. Love the image and the rain. And I have to write that I'm all respect to the person who was brave enough to hold that little creature.

I have to. I'm not that brave.

:)

I think 'ritual' was your hardest word yet. But I enjoyed the thought provoking effot!!!

Peace and exploration and wonder are all so visible in your shot. Beautiful. That's an adorable little snail, and a beautiful rain ritual.

I don't have pictures this week, but I do have a post that falls into the "ritual" category. Technically it's the opposite of ritual - a rare moment rather than one that's routine. But somehow...it became a ritual that very first time.

That's a wonderful shot, Tracey. Such great detail.

My shot isn't particularly wonderful this week, but it is one of my most important rituals none the less...

That is a fantastic shot of the little snail! You know I don't remember the last time I saw one of those.

Here is mine for today. My page is loading slow... I need to get some time tonight to upgrade hopefully and it may resolve that.

Oh god! I effing love that shot. Even though I don't like getting super close, I love taking pics of bugs and slugs and their brethren. Awesome!

Mine is a little more on the silly side of parent/child interactions.

I tend to overlook our rituals as commonplace events, but really we do have rituals, even if they are fun and frivolous.

I love the snail! And the thought process of ritual.

Here's mine, a ritual we've done with both kids every month til 18 months.

I wasn't going to post today, because I wanted to leave yesterday's post up and collect more mommy advice for my friend and her triplets-to-be, but maybe I can convince some of you Picture This friends to post some advice in the comments, or even post it on your sites for other moms, since I know you all get so much traffic from other parents!

So here is the triplet post:

I would be honored if you would add your advice and/or post it on your sites to gain advice from other moms.

I love the snail! We've been out of commission- but we're back! Here is one of our not so spiritual rituals! LOL

Oh, uh, I shudder just looking at it. Goosebumps to see it in hand. But you've captured it's face and that's amazing.

I'm late but I've posted something:
