My Best Shot in the Water

I love it when my daughter wears a swim cap at swimming lessons. Can you blame me? She is adorable!

What inspired you this week?

Here's a Spectacle

...even if it is a few days late!

My intention was to post an image from my daughter's annual Ho'Ike (a fund-raising Luau for her Hula group) because the show was indeed a spectacle in the best possible way!

Here's a shot of my daughter teaching her dad how do "move it move it" if you know what I mean. It was hilarious! Notice he's looking at her hips trying to figure out how in the heck????

Can you get over that costume?? I had to make most of it! Along with the others she wears. A labor of love (and sometimes loathing) but when she gets out there and does her Polynesian thing it makes it all worthwhile. I do the same crazy thing for Halloween. It's just one of those mom things I do that I enjoy (kind of). Anyway, I just wanted to squeeze in at least one of these 'spectacular' shots for My Best Shot Monday.

My Best Shot at Transcendence

For the last few weeks things have felt a bit out of control around here. With so much running around and juggling (above the norm) it's been hard for me to get my bearings. In other words, I'm all over the map. Summer is great and all but what comes with it is the lack of routine that always has me feeling anchor-less.

This shot of my oldest (a la my lensbaby) embodies those feelings of trying to rise above the chaos while I struggle with balancing all of the elements of life as they are coming at me at what seems like warp speed. Anyone feeling the same way?

My Glowing Best Shot Monday

We got the chance to experience Illume this weekend and I'll tell you, it was it something to see. A bunch of the worlds greatest "action and adventure" photographs featuring extreme sport athletes doing what they do best lit up the sand and sky of Huntington Beach and it was awe-inspiring to say the least.

Read all about the exhibit on the Red Bull Illume website and get a look at the incredible photographs featured and the photographers that captured them. And I thought chasing after a preschooler with a camera was a challenge!

I look a handful of shots of the evening but this one of my daughter looking at the enormous glowing screen was my top choice for My BSM.

My Mama's Best Shot Monday

I had a gazillion photos to choose from but when I stumbled across this one in the archives I had to share.

My lovely and talented mother shot this one of me and my sissy-pies a while back and I simply adore it. I'm on the left, my photo bloggy sister is in the middle and my tohe sister is on the right. All three of us (and our families) will be shakin' our money-makers at the Baby Loves Disco party this weekend at The Derby in LA. Wanna join us? I posted a little something about it at Mother May I and like I always do, I'll be reporting back next week to give you the play by play. It's just the way I roll. And rock. And roll.

Thanks for the feedback. So, let's regroup. I have a thought. Sorry but that's a big deal as I am still in some kind of sloth like funk.

I would like to keep My Best Shot Monday as is. It works for me and I know it works for you guys too. Now, what if I drop in a Theme at the END of my Best Shot Monday posts and have Thursdays be the Theme Link Day?  Does Thursday's Theme sound catchy enough? It would give you a few days to find something from the past or shoot something for the Theme. Even if I had something else to talk about on Thursdays I'd still leave it open for the theme links. It could work, don't you think? And, it'll give you 2 days to share links and sharing is fun.

So, what's the consensus?

Getting Back into the Swing

OK, so holiday weekends are great but they kind of throw the rest of the week off. Not that I'm complaining (or am I?). Why do I feel behind already? It's still that damn PMS, isn't it? No matter, my only point today is to make mention that Best Shot Mondays are rockin' ( I dig them) and I am so loving seeing your work each week. It's a highlight.

I have never really considered implementing a theme for BSMs because to be honest, I can't plan that far ahead of the game. I'm such more into waiting until sometime on Sunday to see what I feel like posting. When I throw my own photo's theme out there and pose a question on Mondays, it's not at all meant to steer you in the direction of the theme, just so you know. IF, and only IF something comes to mind or your photo happens to coincide with my thought, then that's cool (like yesterday's Grace thing seemed to do) BUT, BSM is mostly about sharing ANY photo from the week (or from the more distant past if you so choose) that you want to share. No rules. No themes. Just sharing.

I just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone thought that I want you to join in a theme. It's just about Mondays and having something fun to look forward to. That's my intention.

BSM Comic Relief

Over at Mama Says Om the theme for this week is Grace. The minute I read the word I felt that feeling...like I was going to have to find an image that encompassed the word perfectly. And as I began to ruminate over the word grace, I got kind of overwhelmed with emotion. I think it's just one of those words that can do that to a person. The last few days have felt rather emotional for me in general. Nothing I can pinpoint really, just exhaustion from the chaos of the whole motherhood routine mixed with a surge of hormones. You know, the perfect cocktail for a breakdown.

Then, I was going through a few photos from this weekend and I found this weeks gem. I'm thinking that if there were any photo that visually captured the antithesis of grace, this just might be it. And it got me laughing. Out loud. At that point, I couldn't resist.
